Pierre Morel finds a new Pursuit
The director of Taken is back
Taken helmer Pierre Morel has agreed to direct Pursuit for Universal.
This time, he'll be following the adventures of a man with a different, particular set of skills - no, not killing people: photography.
Pursuit is based on the early career of war snapper Jason Howe who fell in love with a woman while at work in Colombia.
But in case you think there won't be any death this time, think again - his lover was an assassin.
The studio has nabbed the rights to Howe's life story, and Morel - a former camera operator and cinematographer before he made the jump to directing - sees the story as perfect for him.
"Aside from the camerawork, I have been shooting still photography since I was a kid and have been fascinated by the reportage in war zones," Morel tells Variety.
"If I'd been courageous enough, I might have done that myself. There is the sentimental side of a man in love, and a journalist trying not to become involved in the story he is covering."
Oh, and yes, Taken fans... He and Luc Besson are still trying to work up a sequel, so we might see Liam Neeson kicking arse once more.
