Phillippe and Tatum join America race
Franklyn and GI Joe actors added to shortlist...
Oh, can’t they just cast him already?
Marvel are making a right jamboree about their casting of Captain America, and frankly we just want the deal to be done so we can stop chewing our nails into dust.
But instead of narrowing down their search, the studio are widening it, this time adding Ryan Phillippe and Channing Tatum to their list of possible candidates for the shield-wielding crime-fighter.
The duo joins most recent maybes Mike Vogel, Garrett Hedlund, Chris Evans and Wilson Bethel. It’s interesting to see that Marvel are considering both big names and relative unknowns for the role – they obviously have little prejudice either way.
So long as they get it right (and cast the part soon) we’ll be happy little campers.
Meanwhile, a shortlist has been drawn up for the female lead, with Keira Knightley, Emily Blunt and Alice Eve all in the running for the part of CA’s girlfriend Peggy Carter or female bum-kicker Golden Girl.
Across the Marvel office, Ed Norton has been talking about the possibility of another Hulk flick. During a chat with MTV , he confirmed that he won’t be appearing in Thor or Captain America , while other Marvel plans mean another Hulk is very much on the top shelf gathering dust.

But Norton’s not ruling out a return to the role too hastily.
“There’s always been an agenda I think to unspool a lot of the Marvel Universe and then come back,” Norton told SuperHeroHype . “I think they’ve got a lot of new stuff that they’re rolling out and then I think at some point they’re going to figure out how they want to get around to Avengers .”
Looks like it’s a no to another Hulk , but Norton could be appearing again in the role in a future Avengers flick. All good stuff to know.
Now let’s get ourselves a Captain America signed soon to join Hugo Weaving’s villainous Red Skull and we can go back to our everyday lives happy.
Are Phillippe and/or Tatum more to your liking?
