Peter Sarsgaard's solving The Mysteries Of Pittsburgh
Jarhead star in the Michael Chabon adaptation
The last time a Michael Chabon book hit the screen, the result was Wonder Boys, which arrived to good reviews but a less than wonderful box office.
Here’s hoping that The Mysteries Of Pittsburgh has a healthier result, as – with The Adventures Of Kavalier And Clay lost in movie limbo-land - it’s the only chance that Chabon fans will get to see his work on the screen any time soon.
Peter Sarsgaard, Sienna Miller, Stay Alive’s Jon Foster, Nick Nolte and Mena Suvari have all joined the cast of the film, which is being written and directed by Dodgeball’s Rawson Thurber, who’s seriously changing tracks with this film.
With exactly zero scenes of anyone being hit in the groin by a wrench, Mysteries is the story of Art Bechstein (Foster), a nerdy, sexually confused college graduate who falls into a love triangle with both Sarsgaard and Miller’s characters, a couple of the sexiest, most charismatic people in his town. But he also strikes up a friendship with the intriguing and weird Phlox (Mena Suvari).
Thurber is dusting off his director’s folding chair and will start work on 5 September in Pittsburgh.
