Peter Capaldi Begins Filming Doctor Who - First Photo
“New job, first day, slightly nervous..."
Peter Capaldi began filming his first series of Doctor Who today and the BBC has just released a shot of the TARDIS' new owner in action, together with co-star Jenna Coleman:
He's still dressed in Matt Smith's togs so we imagine there's a proper reveal of his new costume still to come - unless this is a thriftier, recycling-minded incarnation of the Time Lord?
Ooh, he's good at pointing, isn't he?
“New job, first day, slightly nervous," says Capaldi. "Just like the Doctor, I'm emerging from the TARDIS into a whole other world.”
Showrunner Steven Moffat adds: “First the eyebrows! Then, at Christmas, the face! Coming soon, the whole Doctor. In the Cardiff studios, the Capaldi era begins.”
The first episode of series 8 has been written by Steven Moffat with the second episode penned by Phil Ford. These are the first episodes that Peter will shoot and are directed by Ben Wheatley.
We reckon there's a touch of the classic Pertwee promo pic about this shot...
