Peter And The Wolf premiere announced

Music, movies and animation will collide like a set of large colliding objects on Saturday 23 September, as BAFTA winning helmer Suzie Templeton’s Peter And The Wolf is premiered at The Royal Albert Hall – with the music to be played live by the Philharmonia Orchestra.

Marking the 70th anniversary since the work was first commissioned and performed in Moscow, the Philharmonia Orchestra will perform the classic musical score by Prokofiev alongside the first showing of the animated flick from BreakThru Films.

“This is an exciting opportunity to combine live music and a worldwide premiere of an innovative animated film,” commented David Whelton, Managing Director of the Philharmonia Orchestra. “The traditional story is vividly animated with a contemporary approach and the score remains a perfect introduction to the orchestra and its individual instruments. It celebrates the richness of Prokofiev’s wonderful music enjoyed by young and old alike, 70 years on from its first performance in Moscow.”

The movie is created through stop-frame model animation, the same style that has garnered Oscars for Nick Park and the team behind the Wallace And Gromit series. Templeton herself has nabbed a BAFTA for her short film Dog and a host of other awards throughout her career. Click here to view the trailer.

Tickets are available from The Royal Albert Hall Box Office on 020 7589 8212 or www.royalalberthall.com . Prices range from £10 to £38.
