Why you can trust 12DOVE
Ever wondered what would happen if Phil Taylor mated with a potato? The clumsy rendering in this official darts sim might give you some idea. It’s full of real players, official stats and events but it looks bum. Actually throwing the darts is a little tricky; you aim with the analogue – sort of flicking it back and forth (while holding a button) to let fly. It takes some getting used to, and even in the early stages of the career mode your opponent will thrash you at the first sign of weakness.
Unfortunately, the game’s biggest strength is also its downfall. It stays true to the pace and mechanics of the real game, but doesn’t quite have the drama or excitement of, say, football, ice hockey, or let’s face it, tiddlywinks. Still, if the pub's closed and you’re desperate for a game of Round The Clock, this’ll probably do.
