Payday: The Heist gets mid-Oct release date and new trailer
PSN-based crime FPS will bring the heat next Tuesday
Overkill's Sony-published crime FPS, Payday: The Heist, has recovered from its recent delay and is set to launch on PS3 next week. The download-only title, dated for a PSN launch on Oct 18, hasn't had a confirmed release date for its PC port, but is still on track to be available on both platforms by month's end. Here's a new clip previewing the game's Slaughterhouse level, which Sony promises is one of the game's toughest.
Payday: The Heist pits players against the law in a series of high-yield armed robbery scenarios, requiring team-play to carry out the mission objectives and get out alive and rich. Drawing clear inspiration from movies like Heat and The Dark Knight – not to mention Kane & Lynch's Fragile Alliance mode – the title is billed as AAA content at a download-play price. Sony and Overkill promise to support the title with DLC in the near future: find out more on the game's site in the final days before launch.
