Pacific Rim sequel already in the pipeline
Screenwriter commissioned to begin work on a script
Pacific Rim might not be in cinemas for a little while to come, but Legendary Pictures has already given a potential sequel the green light.
The news comes hot on the heels of the revelation that Guillermo Del Toro’s next film after Pacific Rim will be a “throwback” ghost story called Crimson Peak .
According to Del Toro, he’s already started considering what he might do with a potential sequel, but has reiterated that he’d want to do something different in between, should he return to direct.
“We certainly started tossing ideas for possibilities of a sequel and Travis Beacham and I are writing a proposal of ideas,” said Del Toro, “but at the same time I know I don’t want to do that next. I want to do something else, I want to do something in a different genre that’s not so big.”
Co-starring Idris Elba, Charlie Day and Ron Perlman, Pacific Rim will open in the UK on 12 July 2013.
