Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures coming in fall

Pac-Man is back... as a teenager with a strong sense of family and friendship? We don't pretend to understand the rationale behind the new Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures Disney XD series, but Namco Bandai today announced a game of the same name will hit North American PlayStation 3s, Wii Us, and Xbox 360s in fall. A side scrolling version is also planned for 3DS.

The little yellow ball dude must chomp his way through the legions of ghosts which have taken over Netherworld. Fifty-fifty on a twist ending which reveals Pac-Man made the whole thing up, and has just eaten half of ghost society in an act of unprovoked aggression. Judge the Pac-Lore for yourself at the game's official website.

There you can meet Pac-Man's friends Spiral and Cylindria who are (not making this up) "at the bottom of the popularity food chain, but they are ok with their status because together they are trying to:

  • Enjoy life
  • Cope with the challenges of being a teenager
  • And save their planet from the ghosts."

From the trailer above, Ghostly Adventures looks like a fairly typical mascot action/platformer, with special powerups for combat and traversal. Or in this case, one power-up: the power to become that guy from Chameleon Twist.

Who doesn't like Chameleon Twist?
