Owen Wilson drops out of Tropic Thunder
His personal issues mean he won’t cameo for Ben Stiller
It’s become something of a tradition for Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller to work together – even if they’re not paired up as the leads (such as in Starsky And Hutch), Wilson will often drop by Stiller’s sets for a quick burst of work (see Night At The Museum).
But following Wilson’s weekend hospitalisation following a suicide attempt, they’re ditching that particular plan for Stiller’s latest directing/starring project, the comedy Tropic Thunder, which has been shooting for six weeks in Hawaii.
"Ben and Owen have made eight movies together," blabbed a source close to the film, who spilled their info guts to Variety . "And he can't wait to work with Owen again. It's just not going to be on this film."
Meanwhile, Wilson is busy recuperating at LA’s Cedars Sinai hospital, an establishment so Hollywood that it has a publicist, not a spokesgob.
There’s no word on whether Wilson’s role will be snipped entirely from the film or recast. But that’s the thing about the Wilsons – there are so many of them. With Owen out of action, couldn’t Luke step in?
