One million laps in Mario Kart

The Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection has recently logged its one millionth unique user, a feat that took online powerhouse Xbox Live nearly two years to reach (it does cost $50 a year, after all). The ever-rising number of Nintendo DS owners means you'll spend less time waiting around in cyberspace lobbies for someone to stomp. According to Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of sales and marketing, there have been 27 million worldwide gaming sessions since the free service launched last November. Even with just three games to fuel it, the Wi-Fi Connection has established the DS as a major player for online gaming. Which of the whopping three online titles gets to boast that millionth user? The cutest life-sim of them all, Animal Crossing: Wild World.

Tony Hawk's American Sk8land and Mario Kart DS complete the online trifecta, enabling DS owners (and wireless internet users) to reach out and school total strangers in the art of turtle-shell tossing. On March 20th, expect these login numbers to spike, as first-person shootfest Metroid Prime Hunters and undying puzzler Tetris DS hit the Wi-Fi Connection.
