US TV mainstay Garrent Dillahunt enjoys a leading role here as Sherman Oliver (the title’s deliberately wrong), a traumatised vet whose unannounced arrival at the home of his old war buddy, Franklin (Donal Logue), causes unease for Franklin’s wife (Molly Parker).

The premise screams exploitation but first-timer Ryan Redford’s low-key chamber drama prefers gloomy sincerity as it charts the fallout of Canada’s involvement in Afghanistan

The north-of-the-border setting promises fresh perspectives but local novelty can’t disguise universal clichés, despite Dillahunt’s memorably haunted star turn.
