Official: Xbox 360 price cut
Microsoft cuts the price of Xbox 360 by $50
Microsoft has kicked into motion what it labels "the greatest holiday line-up in videogame history" (minus GTA IV, of course) by reducing theprice of the Xbox 360 by $50.
Effective August 8, the long-anticipated price reduction will see the Premium model priced at $349.99, the Core unit at $279.99, and the recently launched Elite system at $449.99.
Mitch Koch, corporate VP of Microsoft's global retail sales and marketing group, gushed, "The fact that we have been able to keep our launch price longer than any other console while retaining our leadership position demonstrates that consumers believe in the value of Xbox 360."
Next Generationreports that MS also confirmed the pricing of the Halo 3 Special Edition console as $399.99: "The system, which will feature an 'authentic Spartan green-and-gold finish,' will launch in September to coincide with the latest title in Microsoft's flagship franchise."
