Official synopsis marks the end for Alice in Resident Evil: The Final Chapter
History has proven that the 'final chapter' in a series is often followed by later sequels that betray its conclusive subtitle, but by the looks of things Sony's forthcoming Resident Evil instalment could be about to change all that. Along with a new casting announcement (see below), an official synopsis has arrived for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, which seemingly confirms the end of days really is nigh for Alice.
"Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution," the synopsis reads, "humanity is on its last legs after Alice is betrayed by Wesker in Washington D.C. As the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead hordes, Alice must return to where the nightmare began – Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse.
"In a race against time Alice will join forces with old friends, and an unlikely ally, in an action packed battle with undead hordes and new mutant monsters. Between losing her superhuman abilities and Umbrella’s impending attack, this will be Alice’s most difficult adventure as she fights to save humanity, which is on the brink of oblivion."
Sounds like business as usual for the sixth part in the long-running zombie series, which has franchise veteran Milla Jovovich returning as the ass-kicking heroine Alice with director Paul W.S. Anderson back once more to steer her adventure to the screen. Ali Larter reprises her role as Claire Redfield along with new recruits Ruby Rose, Iain Glen, Shawn Roberts, Eoin Macken and William Levy.
Production on Resident Evil: The Final Chapter kicks off this month in Johannesberg and Cape Town ahead of its US release on January 27, 2017. No UK date has been confirmed as yet.
