Norbit on Oscar shortlist!
And the Academy Award for shock of the day goes to...
We've spoken a lot today about how much we'd like the Oscars to go ahead. But this latest bit of news makes us almost regret every word.
Because, yes, according to Reuters , Norbit, Eddie Murphy's worst crime against cinema, has been shortlisted for an Academy Award.
Go ahead, read that sentence again. Then take a little breather and come back to us. Ready? Then we'll carry on.
The Oscar Norbit could technically win is makeup, but we're hoping it doesn't make it that far. It has to get past The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, La Vie en rose, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Sweeney Todd and 300 first, so there is hope.
Only three names make it to the final list, and if we had it our way, they'd be The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Sweeney Todd.
Just not Norbit. We really hope we've made that clear.
