Nolan on Tudyk's Uncharted comments "I don't think he meant anything ugly"
Last week, Star Wars and Con Man star Alan Tudyk spoke out about his leaving the cast of Uncharted 4 "because they decided to go a different way with it." Tudyk had explained that due to "weird changes" he and Todd Stashwick left the project when the new Naughty Dog creative team took over from Amy Hennig. I caught up with Mr Drake himself, Nolan North at MCM Comic Con this weekend to find out more about Tudyk's comments.
"Those comments he made - I think they were at the New York Comic Con during our Con Man panel, for our show - I don’t think he meant anything ugly by it," North told me. "He was part of Uncharted 4 as he said and when Amy Hennig left Naughty Dog and a new team took over, he just, I can’t speak for him but he just decided he.. How do I put this? When an actor signs onto a project, like let’s say you’re going to do a movie and Martin Scorsese’s directing it and then six months into the thing he drops out and a new director comes on, you may have taken that job because Scorsese was there. It just happens all the time. It’s not that uncommon for people to leave and their contracts state that that can happen."
North added that it was very much Tudyk's own decision. "It was something that he chose to walk away from. He was busy with Con Man and now Star Wars so things are fine for him."
