[PS3] Sony commits to March launch for Europe

"Sony is committed to launching PlayStation 3 in Europe in March 2007," the tech giant has confirmed to GamesRadar, in response to rumours emerging that PlayStation 3 will suffer further delays in Europe.

The speculation stems from an article by Spanish gaming site MeriStation.com, claiming that Sony president Ken Kutaragi has voiced fears that shortages of the next-gen console for its fast approaching launch in the US and Japan could force another delay to the European release of PS3, perhaps until May. However, "the rumour of a May release is completely false," Sony has confirmed to us.

While we wouldn't rule out another - potentially catastrophic - launch day delay, Sony must realise that yet more bad news for European gamers could cause irreparable damage to PS3's already tarnished image. Let's hope so, eh?
