No Mad Max 4 for Gibson
Not even a cameo...
Mel Gibson has exclusively revealed to Australian movie website Dark Horizons that he will not be taking part in the fourth Mad Max film.
Attending press duties for his upcoming Edge of Darkness , the actor was asked if George Miller had approached him about returning to the role for Mad Max: Fury Road .
In response, Gibson said:
“No, not at all. We’ve talked about it. We said – ‘Hey, how you doing.’ You know, we’ve cleared it. It’s no biggie. No biggie. It’s [Miller’s] franchise. It’s his to do with as he wishes and I’m looking forward to seeing it. Good luck to him.
“I mean, I think he’s a genius. Everything he does, everything he turns his hand to, is somehow, extraordinary. So, I can't wait to see what he does with it.”
Miller has already previously confirmed that Gibson wouldn’t be the new film’s lead, opting instead for a younger star.
But with Gibson out entirely, who can we expect to put the medal to the petal in Miller’s fourth road trip across the blistered landscape of a post-apocalyptic Australia?
