Nintendo teams with Penny Arcade to create Zelda: Skyward Sword comic
Zelda is nearly here and Nintendo enlisted famous cartoonist to create an original comic for it
Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword hits US stores this Sunday, with the UK getting it Friday, and it’s those last hours of waiting that are always the hardest. Especially now that we've posted our very positive review, knowing it’s another worthy entry in the series makes the gap feel even greater. Reading web comics has usually been a great way to pass the time while waiting for major releases, which makes this new miniseries from the Penny Arcade team interesting, as they’ve teamed with Nintendo to create a new web comic for Skyward Sword.
The first page of it was posted today, with promise that the series will be weekly, which is a little slower than we’d like to read such a promising comic. It’s great how it embraces the vivid, watercolor art-style of the game, though we bet PA is going to play this one a little straighter than they do in their regular comics. PA’s Gabe wrote a touching story about how important doing art for Zelda was, including getting approval from series director Eiji Aonuma. We’ll keep watching over the next weeks to see if every page looks this good.
