Announced at Nintendo's E3 2015 conference the co-op only Metroid Prime Federation Force just hasn't been quite the hit with fans that Nintendo hoped. A staggeringly negative YouTube opinion on the 57 second trailer of the 3DS shooter has only 7,459 likes compared to a painful 70,427 thumbs down but the company isn't ignoring it. "What the fan at home saw was something in the Metroid Prime universe that they weren't expecting. The reaction has been negative. There's no sugar coating it," Nintendo America President Fils-Amie tells Mashable.
Yet even when facing a 21,00 strong change.org petition to "stop this atrocity of a game from bearing the beloved Metroid franchise name" and halt production, Nintendo remains positive. "This is an example where fans who aren't able to get their hands on the game may be at a bit of a competitive disadvantage," says Fils-Amie. "Everyone who has played what we are showing regarding Metroid Prime, they've come across really pleased. My ask is that fans trust us." Going by fan reaction alone to the big changes afoot, that might be a big ask.
