Nintendo goes after smokers
We reckon we can get high scores on this one
Nintendo really wants to make the world a better place. Not content with making stupid people smarter with Brain Training and fat people thinner with Wii Fit, it's now going after smokers.
As of November, those hoping to kick the habit will be able to purchase Allen Carr's Easyway to Stop Smoking for Nintendo DS.
Based on a popular range of books and DVDs, it will seek to help smokers find the psychological reasons and motivations behind their habit.
Minigames will also educate the player on the negative impact of smoking and show them the extent of the damage they have caused to their body by nipping outside for acig once a day.
"The player experiences a truly interactive engagement with the game through which he or she learns that it can actually be enjoyable to quit smoking," said Christian Salomon, vice-president of worldwide licensing at Ubisoft.
As a group of ex-smokers ourselves, we can categorically say that Salomon has never smoked a cigarette in his life. Not even a videogame can make giving up smoking enjoyable. Unless you're taking your frustrations out on it.
