Nintendo will discontinue multiple Wii online services on June 28. While the company will still operate the Wii Shop Channel and 'Today's Accomplishments' on the Wii Message Board, support will be dropped for various multimedia, entertainment and communication functions including the exchange of Wii messages on the Wii Message Board, the exchange of Mii characters on the Mii Channel and message/data exchange within some games.
Support will also be ceased for the Nintendo Channel, News Channel, Forecast Channel, Everybody Votes Channel and Mii Contest Channel.
The platform holder said: "We at Nintendo sincerely thank you for your continued patronage of our company's products. We apologise to those of you currently using these services."
Last December, six years after the original console launched and almost later, Nintendo released the Wii Mini in Canada. The new model, which offers no internet connectivity options or GameCube support, launched in the UK in March.
