Nicole Kidman planning to star in Love and Pain remake

Nicole Kidman is developing a remake of Alan J. Pakula's 1973 comedy-drama Love and Pain and the Whole Damn Thing , according to a report by The Playlist.

Kidman is working with her producing partner Per Saari, and she plans to take the lead female role.

The film follows two tourists who meet and fall in love in Spain, though their non-epic relationship doesn't follow the straightforward route of many screen romances.

Kidman and Saari's Blossom Films production company was behind Rabbit Hole , a movie that has seen the actress garner some serious awards buzz recently.

Blossom Films still has The Danish Girl lined up for 2011, with Kidman due to star in that sex-change drama for director Lasse Halstrom, so Love and Pain could be some time away.

The Oscar-winning actress also has a few diverse projects waiting in the wings: she's wrapped a support role in Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston romcom Just Go With It , and Trespass , a home-invasion thriller in which she co-stars with Nicolas Cage, is in post-production.

She's also readying herself to star in HBO TV movie Hemingway & Gellhorn , in which she plays the title role of the great American author's romantic interest.

Hopefully Love and Pain will fare better than Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie's holiday-romance remake The Tourist ...
