Ricky Gervais... not a gamer
Wired Newsgot a chance to sit down with Ricky Gervais - one of the men behind The Office, as well as the recent HBO series Extras - about his throughts on video games and technology, given his appearance in Scarface: The World is Yours. If you read it for no other reason, it's always amusing to read what famous non-gamers think about games. Well, that, and Gervais is extremely witty. Wired News asks, "Did they show you what your video game character looked like?" Gervais' response? "Gervais: Absolutely not, but I'd be surprised if he's not fat." For the full story, clickhere.
Meeting of the minds
The Colbert Report is our favorite destination for news. And humor. And now, apparently, video game personalities. Will Wright, creator of megahit The Sims and upcoming critical darling Spore, has paid a visit to the show - you can catch the clip onYouTube. If you want a bit more detail about the visit, Newsweek reporter N'Gai Croal has posted a (pretty uninteresting)blog about his experience following Wright around during the shoot. We're just handing it off for completeness' sake, really.
Peachy with Wii (and DS)
Nintendo has come outsayingthat it might just beat its earnings forecasts on the back of strong Wii and DS sales - because the two consoles are both popular. Apparently, analysts were worried that the Wii might kill sales of the DS, given the similarities between the two easy-to-use consoles. Turns out, that so far anyway, it's not the case. We don't really care about how much money companies make, except that we rather like Nintendo and it's nice to see quality succeed, isn't it? We just wish we could walk into Target and buy a damn Wii. Hey, Nintendo - invest that money in more factories, will you?
