Power to the truth! PS3 creates problems in Japan... we still like it anyway
PlayStation 3: it's there
So the PS3 went on sale in Japan this past Saturday.Next Generation reportsthat 88,400 units were sold over the weekend, a bit more than the 80,000 that Sony promised (well, after cutting the launch down from 100,000, that is.) By now you've maybe read about the dark side of the PS3 launch: fat cat businessmen forcing immigrants into line to buy units to auction off, at least as far asKotaku reports. We don't doubt that it's (basically)true. It was a matter of moments before aDead Risingfan got his act together and hit us withthis picture. Yep, that's the stuff.
Warped gears
Gears of Warhit last week and Xbox Live is full of gamers playing it. Problem is, asGamer Andy points out, it's stupidly easy to cheat and manipulate the game's rankings. That sucks. Really sucks. To read the whole extremely informative rant, just head over tohis siteand get the details. Online gaming: not for fun anymore!
Shopping season... start
November 24 isn't just another day. It's Black Friday, the most irritating (but not the biggest) shopping day of the year. Want to know what the big chains have as their big deals? Just head over toBlack Friday 2006, which has a handy list of all the circulars. We combed through most of them, and the deals are mostly "old games you probably already have... for cheap." Most new stuff stays expensive. The saddest deal? Toys R Us is blowing out the Game Boy Micro - which hit last year for $100 - for $34.99. Yeesh.
