Power to the truth! PS3 + update = online. Otherwise, forget it
PlayStation Patch?
If you have a PSP you know that Sony's always updating the firmware that runs the unit. Same story with PS3.According to Kotaku- via a press release from Sony Japan - the PS3 will require an immediate update the day it's released, to enable the latest bells and whistles Sony's cooked up - namely, the PlayStation Network. Not shocking, not problematic. Of course, people are complaining (anyone remember thedashboard update Microsoft did like a week ago? Nobody seemed to bitch about that.) Hmm. Right.
Line up!
Some dudes, somewhere, are already waiting in line for the PS3 at a Best Buy. Let's all point and laugh! The machine doesn't even come out for eight days, as of this writing. There's not much more to say, really, is there? Hitvideogamesblogger.comfor the meager details, and pics. Really boring pics. Not quite as boring as waiting in a Best Buy parking lot for eight days... but pretty boring.
Contra's multiplayer... sucks
According to Game|Life(and corroborated by a close GamesRadar pal) the co-op mode in Contra for Xbox Live Arcade is pretty much totally broken. Games completely disconnect, but the gamers don't even know it - you just keep playing while it slowly dawns on you that it's just not working. Nice. Check outthe storyover there for the full-on pics. Can't wait for Nintendo to save us from this bullshit with the Virtual Console! NES Contra's loads better than the arcade version, anyway.

Wii - totally happening now
Nintendo handed out some fresh pics of the Wii plant in North Bend, WA - including a nifty Hype Williams style fish-eye lens pic of copies of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess rolling off an assembly line. Game|Life threw them up, so hitthe pageto check 'em out. Not much to say but: Wii. It's real. We expect to have ours very soon now, so stay tuned.
