You may have noticed there‘s a new Hitchhiker’s book coming out. In fact, you’d have to have been hiding in small cave on the third moon of Garagulus Prime for the past few weeks for that fact to have escaped you. The publication of And Another Thing… is a genuine publishing phenomenon guaranteed to generate acres of press coverage because – gasp – someone has actually dared to follow in the footsteps of the mighty Douglas Adams’s. The impossible has happened. There is now a sixth book in the Hitchhiker’s trilogy.
That man is author Eoin Colfer, previously best know as the writer of the phenomenally successful Atremis Fowl series of books. Who is clearly a very brave man indeed. Because not only did he accept the challenge of continuing the Hitchhiker’s saga, but he’s agreed to be interrogated live on the internet.
Fully sanctioned by Jane Belson, the widow of the Hitchhiker's series creator Douglas Adams, And Another Thing… is available in all good bookshops from Monday 12 October. Colfer will be touring around the UK promoting and signing copies of his new book beginning with Hitchcon'09 on Sunday 11 October at the Royal Festival Hall in central London where a gathering of the largest number of Hitchhiker fans ever will take place. The public will have the opportunity to hear Eoin read from And Another Thing... for the first time, as well as enjoy a host of Hitchhiker related events including a live re-creation of the classic radio plays with the original cast of actors
But before that, on Friday at 2.30pm, Colfer is appearing live on the web at Webchats.TV . So for devout überHitchers or “Artemis Advocates” who have supported Colfer’s appointment as the new Hitchhiker’s author, or anyone else interested in what is sure to be the book launch of the year – log on to our webchat and submit your questions to the plucky author?
