New viral material for The Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight Rises has continued its viral marketing campaign with the release of three pages from The Gotham Observer , a fictional newspaper covering the impending festivities planned for Harvey Dent Day.

The newspaper outlines the national holiday announced by Mayor Garcia, before updating us on the whole Batman situation. "Many hold the masked vigilante responsible for Dent's death," reads the leader article, "though authorities have never announced their efforts to make an arrest. While Batman still tops the Gotham City Police most-wanted list and the case remains open, little is known and there have been no recent developments."

The article goes on to confirm that the Gotham Rogues will take part in a charity football match on Harvey Dent Day, which is presumably when Bane makes his earth-shattering presence felt. It also says that there will be a special party at Wayne Manor, and we know how those tend to turn out…

Elsewhere in the new material is a smaller story referring to Catwoman's thieving antics, with eight robberies being reported within a period of 72 hours. A figure "dressed all in black" is reported to have been spotted at the scene.

There's also something a little more obscure in the form of an advert for a company named Rykin Data. The URL leads to a new website, which at present shows only a patent submitted by one "A. Heiberger". Curiouser and curiouser… The Dark Knight Rises opens in the UK on 20 July 2012.
