September sees the start of two our most anticipated upcoming TV shows with The Penguin and Agatha All Along heading to our screens. But what about what's coming beyond those two shows? Well, there's still a lot left to come in 2024 in terms of small-screen offerings, including the return of Netflix's most popular series of all time with Squid Game season 2 arriving in December.
We've also got new expansions of franchises with the Bene Gesserit-centered prequel Dune: Prophecy and Jude Law's introduction to the Star Wars universe in Skeleton Crew on the way.
Add in some more dramas, comedies, and fantasy shows, the end of this year on screen is shaping up to be pretty epic. If that wasn't enough either, we've also got a look beyond this year into 2025 as well, with all the fun that's set to bring. The Penguin
The Penguin release date: September 19, 2024 (US), September 20 (UK)

The Batman spin-off series The Penguin will air later this year, and will focus on Colin Farrell's brutal antagonist. Set in Gotham's underbelly, the show will track Penguin's plan to take over in the mob power vacuum after the death of Carmine Falcone. This one arrives ahead of The Batman 2 in 2025 so should be enough to tide us over until Robert Pattinson's caped crusader returns.

The latest entry from The Walking Dead universe picks up once again with Daryl Dixon, but this time around, the focus is on another major character: Carol Peletier. Yes, that's right, Melissa McBride is returning to her fan-favorite role in the new season, subtitled The Book of Carol. Told over six parts, the show picks up where season 1 left off in France, after we caught a glimpse of Carol again. As the synopsis teases, the part must "confront old demons" as Carol fights to find Daryl as his choice to stay in France causes tension at the Nest.
Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft
Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft release date: October 10, 2024

Tomb Raider is getting a new animated adaptation this October, starring Hayley Atwell as the voice of the beloved adventurer. The series will pick up after the events of the Tomb Raider video game Survivor trilogy as Lara Croft abandons her friends and heads on more perilous solo adventures. However, she's then called back home when a dangerous artifact is stolen from Croft Manor. Alongside Atwell, the new show features the voices of Allen Maldonado as Zip and Earl Baylon as Jonah.
Like a Dragon: Yakuza
Like a Dragon: Yakuza release date: October 24, 2024

Prime Video is helming a new crime action TV show based on Sega's Yakuza game series. It will follow the story of Kazuma Kiryu (played by Ryoma Takeuchi), who is a former yakuza who have been drawn into a major conspiracy. At the heart of that? His former clan and his best friend Akira Nishikiyama (Kento Kaku). Talk about a conflict of interest...
Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2
Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2 release date: November 15, 2024

Cobra Kai season 6 is being split into three parts this time around as it prepares for an epic goodbye. The next outing due to air in November. Picking up from where things left off, the new episodes will see the show go global with the event in Barcelona fast approaching. Only six members of the Miyago-Do qualified for the big face-off though, as tensions continue to grow between the teammates. After these five episodes, there will be one final release in 2025, but Netflix hasn't confirmed the release date of those just yet.
Silo Season 2

Apple's hit sci-fi show Silo is due to return with its second season in November. Based on Hugh Howey’s bestselling trilogy, the series follows the last ten thousand people on earth who live in a mile-deep home protecting them from the toxic world outside. However, there's a lot of mysteries about how and why the silo was built, and it seems the closer they get to the truth, the more danger lurks. We don't have a full-length trailer or an official synopsis yet, but we do know that season 2 will begin with a rebellion gone wrong. There are some new arrivals too, including The White Lotus star Steve Zahn who is joining Rebecca Ferguson and Common.
Arcane season 2
Arcane season 2 release date: November 2024

Arcane finally returns to Netflix this year with its second season. The show will pick up with League of Legends champions, and sisters, Vi and Jinx as they head in very different directions. The first trailer for the new season promised plenty of drama ahead, as well as some gorgeous animation when the animated show returns.
Dune: Prophecy
Dune: Prophecy release date: November 2024

After the success of Dune: Part Two, a new prequel series is on its way to the small screen this year. The show will explore the origins of the all-powerful Bene Gesserit, 10,000 years before the events of Dune, following Valya (Emily Watson) and Tula (Olivia Williams) Harkonnen as they establish the sisterhood in an attempt to combat forces that threaten the future of humankind. Dune director Denis Villeneuve is on board as an executive producer.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew release date: December 3, 2024
Available on: Disney Plus
Skeleton Crew, starring Jude Law, takes place in the same part of the Star Wars timeline as The Mandalorian, and Dave Filoni said at Star Wars Celebration that the shows will all intertwine in "weird ways." Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts is also involved with the show, which is set to arrive this year.
Creature Commandos
Creature Commandos release date: December 5, 2024

Creature Commandos kicks off James Gunn and Peter Safran's new reign at DC. The animated show follows a black ops team of monsters brought together by Amanda Waller. Gunn is writing all seven episodes, and it's got a stellar cast including David Harbour, Indira Varma, and Alan Tudyk.
Secret Level
Secret Level release date: December 10, 2024

Secret Level is a new kind of video game adaptation, bringing together stories from 15 of the biggest games for a new anthology series. The animated show tells separate short stories based on everything from Dungeons & Dragons to Pac-Man. The full line-up includes Armored Core, Concord (which was recently turned offline), Crossfire, Exodus, Honor of Kings, Mega Man, New World: Aeternum, Sifu, Spelunky, The Outer Worlds, Unreal Tournament, and Warhammer 40,000. PlayStation also gets an episode too, which explains that God of War tease in the trailer too. Casting has yet to be confirmed, but we're pretty certain Keanu Reeves might be making a cameo.
Squid Game season 2
Squid Game season 2 release date: December 26, 2024

Korean hit Squid Game is officially returning to Netflix in 2024. The next installment will reunite us with winner Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) – and he's on a quest for revenge. Plot details are otherwise quite thin on the ground, but we do know that we can expect some new games and characters in the new season.
Daredevil: Born Again
Daredevil: Born Again release date: 2025
Available on: Disney Plus
Charlie Cox's Daredevil is getting another series, having returned in Spider-Man: No Way Home and going on to appear in She-Hulk and Echo, though this will be his first-ever starring role as part of the MCU. Plot details are scarce, though we do know that Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin returns and that the series will be 18 episodes long.
However, we'd say this one may still be a way off as even though filming began in March 2023, it's hit some big delays. Marvel has removed the current creative team and is in the process of replacing them.
Ironheart
Ironheart release date: September 3, 2025
Available on: Disney Plus
Not much is known yet about Ironheart, featuring Dominique Thorne's Riri Williams following in the footsteps of her idol, Tony Stark. The character first appeared in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
