New trailer lands for Despicable Me spinoff Minions
A new trailer for Minions has hit the web, shining a light on those pint-sized creatures as they prepare for their first big screen solo outing. Like earlier previews, the focus zooms in on the Minions’ struggle to find the most heinous villain possible to serve. Thousands of years later one particular trio set off to find a new brand of baddie to humbly honor.
Cue: Sandra Bullock’s superhero antagonist Scarlet Overkill. As the world’s first female villain, she’s basically catnip for the lemming-esque Minions, who strive to impress her whilst saving their entire race from extinction. Check out the new trailer below:
The slapstick silliness of the titular race is perfectly spot-on here; the Minions chat up fire hydrants, don thongs, and make playful light of a hangman’s noose. Their cheery vibe and dunderheaded behavior certainly puts this in the running for animated comedy of the year...
Directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda with a vocal cast that also includes Jon Hamm, Michael Keaton and Allison Janney, Minions arrives in the UK on June 26 and the US on July 10.
