New Super Mario Bros. 2 star coins walkthrough
Here a coin, there a coin, everywhere a coin…
World Four
Stage 4-1
1: At the fourth notch on the map, you will come to a series of small boulders and wooden platforms. The first star coin for this stage can be found at the bottom of the platforms in the center.
2: At the seventh notch on the map, there will be some wooden platforms above the snow covered hills below. Hop on the second platform and jump at the center of it to find a hidden block. Jump up on it and up again to get to the set of platforms above. Make your way to the right and the second coin will be there.
3: Just after the second star coin, you’ll need to hop up some ramps and platforms to avoid rolling boulders. Once you get to the top, you’ll see a gold ring to the right. Instead jump up to the left and run up the ramp there to find the third coin.
Stage 4 - Haunted Mansion
1: The first coin is located in the second room once you start walking in the moving walls. Continue to the right and you will come to two blocks; one going down and one going up. Ride the one going up and once you reach the top, go to the left and find the coin in an alcove there.
2: When you are running to the right in between the moving walls, you will be stuck between two long walls in a narrow space for a little while. When you are, wall jump upwards and continue to bounce back and forth until you hit the coin. It will be located just before you come to the blue P Switch.
3: Right after the second coin, continue to the P Switch. Hit it and follow the blue coins up the platforms to find the second coin on the left. Make your way up quickly however, as if you don’t get to the top quick enough, the moving wall will cover it.
Stage 4-2
1: At the third notch in the map, jump off the red pipe to the right and you will hit the star coin just floating there.
2: At the red pipe just past the checkpoint flag, drop in it and you will come to a room with a Buzzy Beetle. Hop on his shell, let it break the block to the right and then hop on it again to stop it. Go through the opening and you can easily grab the star coin over to the right.
3: At the thirteenth notch on the map, across the series of red pipes that have piranha plants coming out of them, there will be a star coin under a platform. There are two ways to get this. The tougher way is to jump down and grab it and then wall jump back up. The easier way is to grab the red turtle shell just before the platform and toss it at the coin to get it.
Stage 4 - Tower
1: When you are rising up, at the fourth notch on the map, you will see the star coin between 2 skeleton piranha plants.
2: To reach this coin, you will need to have a mini-mushroom with you. Just before you come to the wooden door at the top of the rising platform, there will be a smaller green pipe to the right side. Pop your tiny mushroom and go through to find the star coin in there.
3: When in the rising section after the checkpoint, the final star coin here will be just above the giant skeleton piranha plant.
Stage 4-3
1: At The fourth notch on the map, after a couple piranha plants, you will slide down a ramp and come to a block that has the star coin on the other side of it. Either use the Super Leaf or grab a turtle shell and break the brick. Run and slide through while crouching to get the coin.
2: For the second star coin, it can be found just past the checkpoint flag. It will be in the air between two sets of small coin, easy to grab by just running and jumping.
3: Towards the end of the stage, there will be long slope going down with a ledge on the right that you can jump over to about halfway down. Hop over to the top of the platform and then run and jump off to the right to snag the final star coin.
Stage 4-A
At the exit of 4-Haunted Mansion, you will be given a spring board to jump up to a platform that leads to the exit door on the right. Instead of going to the right, use the spring and bounce up the left side narrow passage and it will take you to the exit that leads to this stage.
1: The first star coin can be seen as soon as the level starts. To get it, go to the far right and then drop down and make your way back to the left across the bouncy mushrooms to grab it.
2: At the first notch on the map after the checkpoint flag, there will be a blue pipe at the top with Goomba’s dropping out of it onto a platform. Jump up to that platform and then run off to the right to grab the star coin in the air.
3: This third star coin can be found just after the second one. You will come to a tall red pipe and a wooden walkway to the right of it. Butt-slam the bricks in the walkway and a mini-mushroom will drop out. Run to the far right to intercept the mushroom and then run through the small opening that it came through to grab the coin.
Stage 4-B
To get to this stage, you will need to enter 4-Haunted Mansion. Once inside there, go past the first start coin until the walls start moving to the right for the second time. Once they do, you will be able to wall jump to small alcove above the red ring and find a door there. If you are able to grab the red ring, then you have gone too far. Go through the door, run past the giant boo and jump on the hidden exit.
1: At the third set of electricity balls just to the right of the level start, run around with them going clockwise to grab the first star coin on the lower half.
2: Just after the checkpoint, you will come to a set of three blue pipes. Hop past them and then you will see a long narrow row of bricks in a gap leading down. Butt-slam them to break through and ride the ramp downwards to a passage with more electrical ball enemies. Hop up through the opening above to grab the star coin in the center.
3: For the final coin, continue to head right, a little bit past the previous coin. You will come to a slope with three Koopas and another set of electrical balls on the far side. Grab a Koopa shell and toss it at the lower section of the circular rail and it will slide down to hit the coin.
Stage 4-C
To get here you will need to go through the blue pipe on the left, at the giant skeleton piranha plant, just near the fourth notch on the map after the check point flag of the 4-Tower.
1: When you come to the sixth notch on the map, the coin will be at the top of the cavern. To get it easily, hop on top of the blue bricks without hitting the POW block and avoiding the Fuzzy.
2: Just after the checkpoint flag, you will need to hop up some moving platforms. When you get to the top, go to the left to see a giant Fuzzy and a green pipe. Enter the pipe and you will enter a room with a ton of Fuzzy’s. Hop on the blocks in the center and jump straight up to grab the second coin.
3: Near the end of the stage, you will ride a platform up that has 5 Fuzzy’s on rails along it. Once you hop of it to the right, there will be two large Fuzzy’s with a green pipe between them. Go to the far right and wall jump up to find a small room there where the final star coin for this stage will be.
Stage 4-4
1: At the fourth notch on the map, there will be a set of platforms attached to each other. Jump on the right most one to raise the left one as far as you can. Once it is in the air, jump on it and jump up to reach the coin.
2: Just before the checkpoint flag, there is a lone block on the ground over a gap. Grab a turtle shell and toss it at the brick and a vine will come out. Climb up it and it will take you to a room in the sky where the star coin will be above the wobbling platforms.
3: At the fifth notch on the map, just past the checkpoint flag, you will come to four platforms in sets of two. Raise the left-most one and hop upwards to the right one. From there you’ll be able to jump to the far right and snag the coin there.
Stage 4-5
1: At the fourth notch on the map, there will be a yellow pipe sticking out of the ceiling. Swim up to it and go through to find the first coin in the center of the room at the bottom. To get it, jump in by doing a butt-slam into the water.
2: At the third notch on the map after the checkpoint flag, you’ll see the star coin floating above, but when you try to get it, blocks will appear barring the way in from below. Swim upwards on the right to the top and then go down on the left side to get the coin.
3: Just past the previous coin, you will see two green pipes on the ground facing away from each other. Enter the left one and once inside, swim to the top to hit the ? Switch. When it is active, the water jets blocking the final star coin below will stop, allowing you to swim over and grab it.
Stage 4-Castle
1: At the sixth notch on the map, there will be 4 small coins. Don’t grab them but continue to the right a few steps. Here you will find a P Switch on the ceiling. Hit it and those previous coins will turn into blocks letting you jump up on them to jump up and over the grey blocks to get the star coin in the ceiling.
2: The second star coin will be just after the checkpoint flag. Continue to the right and there will be two large spiked balls rolling in pits with green moving blocks. In the second pit, the star coin will be behind the ball. Stand on the right-most ledge and drop in when the ball rolls to the left.
3: Just past the second coin, you will come to a red pipe. Hop in it to come to a large room with green moving blocks. Ride the blocks and jump your way up to the top right side corner to grab the final star coin there.
