New Star Wars: The Force Awakens TV spot focuses on the dark side

Surprisingly, even more footage has landed for Star Wars: The Force Awakens (JJ Abrams, you're such a liar!) in the shape of a new TV spot. Released as the US celebrated Thanksgiving, it focuses on villain Kylo Ren and gives fans a better look at the dark side of the force. Take a look at the trailer below...

We get a much clearer look at the mysterious Kylo Ren (played by Adam Driver) and see just how close Daisy Ridley's Rey comes to getting a swift lightsaber to the neck. It's all rather grim and feels far more mature than the frivolity of George Lucas's prequels.

The most chilling thing is the deep, terrifying voiceover, which appears to be Supreme Leader Snoke (played by Andy Serkis) - a character we still know relatively little about. So far the spoilers in the trailers have been kept to an absolute minimum, with this new footage simply elevating excitement levels rather than giving anything away. In case you couldn't tell, we're extremely optimistic for JJ Abrams' take on the Star Wars universe.

Directed by JJ Abrams and starring Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Andy Serkis, Oscar Isaac and Gwendoline Christie, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is released in UK cinemas on December 17 2015 and in the US a day later.
