New poster for The Expendables 2

The Expendables 2 has released a brand new poster, and with its bared muscles, roaring explosions and proliferation of heavy-duty weaponry, its more or less exactly what you’d expect from Sly and the gang.

This new one-sheet manages the not inconsiderable feat of squeezing in the entire primary cast, with everyone from Liam Hemsworth’s pretty boy to Chuck Norris’ grizzled old campaigner present and correct.

It’s worth mentioning that there’s no sign of supporting player Nan Yu, who had previously featured prominently in the publicity material. Perhaps Lionsgate’s marketing team felt that even one girl was one girl too many for this kind of testosterone fest.

Plot-wise, the film will see Sly’s motley crew reunited by Bruce Willis’ Mr. Church, who’s keen to call in a favour that pits the Expendables against Euro-baddie Jean-Claude Van Damme. He in turn is up to no good with a staggering payload of plutonium that could reduce the Earth to a ball of flaming wreckage.

However, we all know the plot will be largely irrelevant, as one-liners, explosions and Arnie are the real draw here. The Expendables 2 opens in the UK on 17 August 2012.
