Consider this the final word regarding rumors of X-23 appearing in Logan, AKA Wolverine 3: The Wrap claims that multiple inside sources have confirmed that a young girl at the center of Logan's journey (and the young hand holding his in the poster) is indeed Laura Kinney, the mutant known as X-23.
The Wrap also reports that Richard E Grant will be playing Zander Rice. In the comics, Zander is the son of Dale Rice, who worked on the original Weapon X program - a secret government operation that gave Logan his adamantium skeleton and scrambled his brain. Dale was killed by Logan when he escaped the program, an act which Zander never forgave.
Zander grew up to be part of a new Weapon X program, where X-23 was created. He was an instrumental part of forming X-23's personality and turning her into a weapon. Zander regularly tortured the young girl, exposing her to radiation poisoning, pulling out her claws and sharpening them (these are someone's bones, remember), and just generally being a dick.
So yeah. While we don't have confirmation from Fox, all signs point to this movie being a combination of Old Man Logan and the origin of X-23. The next time we hear of Laura, I expect it will be with an official picture or trailer.
