New Line has The Time Of Your Life
A true-life tale of Iraq tragedy…
It’s not every day that a soldier plans a party to help his relatives celebrate his life after his death. In fact, it sounds like something from a movie.
It is, however, quite real, but now New Line has bought the rights to just such a story and are planning to turn it into a movie. Time Of Your Life will be based on the story of Army Special Forces captain Jeffrey “Toz” Toczylowski, who died in 2005 after falling from a chopper. His friends then received an e-mail reading, “If you are getting this email, it means that I have passed away. No, it's not a sick Toz joke, but a letter I wanted to write in case this happened.” Attached were details of a party that Toczylowski planned, including a $100,00 budget set aside to make it happen.
Jim Burnstein and Garrett Schiff are penning the script, but there’s no director attached yet. "In a world where hopelessness and cynicism rule, this family found healing through celebration, and their story reminds us of the heroism and patriotism that mark the best this country has to offer," producer Wyck Godfrey told Variety.
