New 'Flame Red' 3DS hitting US stores September 9
Less than a month after the price cut, Nintendo adds some diversity to the handheld
Perhaps you’ve been down on the 3DS so far, uninterested in purchasing it. The launch line-up wasn’t great, the price was a little high, and as nice as Ocarina of Time is, you’d prefer something new. If the imminent price cut to $169.99 still isn’t doing it for you, Nintendo is going with a reliable strategy, one that’s worked on Game Boy, GameCube, GBA, DS, and Wii before it: a brand new color!!! Starting September 9 Nintendo will be selling Flame Red 3DS models in US stores.
Japan got this model, known as Flare Red there, in July to coincide with the release of Star Fox 64 3D, and that’s the same thing Nintendo is doing here, as Star Fox also hits US shelves September 9. It’s always nice to see the US get a color variation that’s available in Japan, though it burns us a little this wasn’t available at launch, as we’d love to trade our blue 3DS for that fiery red frame. Is this new coat of paint enough to sell you on the system, or are you holding out for the eventual pink version?
