The star attractions at this week’s Ubisoft Digital Day event were Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD, turn-based RPG Child of Light, and the next game from Rayman studio Ubisoft Montpellier, Valiant Hearts: The Great War. But the French publisher also used the digital games showcase to announce a number of new titles for mobile platforms, including Assassin's Creed: Pirates and Rayman Fiesta Run.
Set for release this autumn on smartphones and tablets, Assassin’s Creed: Pirates is a standalone spin-off title in which players will captain and upgrade their own ship. They'll explore the Caribbean, tend to their boat and recruit crew members to aid them in real-time naval battles. While it’s not a companion app, the game will feature appearances from Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag characters including Blackbeard and Benjamin Hornigold.
Ubisoft has also announced Rayman: Fiesta Run. The follow-up to last year’s award-winning Rayman Jungle Run, the endless running platformer will boast 75 levels across four fiesta-inspired worlds, plus boss battles and tougher 'Invasion Mode' stages. Prepare to race along hot sausages, leap onto crunchy biscuits and glide on chocolate slides when the game releases on iOS, Android and Windows 8 mobile devices this autumn.
Ubisoft has also released the debut trailer for Trials Frontier, the first mobile game in Redlynx's physics-based racing series. Like its console and PC siblings, the title will feature varied locations and tracks, as well as leaderboards and ghosts to encourage competition. Ubisoft says players can expect the game to be updated with “a massive” stream of post-release content. According to Joystiq, Frontier will in some way connect to Trials Fusion, the upcoming HD series entry for PC, current and next-gen consoles.
