Netflix renews Daredevil for a second season
Netflix has issued a second season order for Marvel's Daredevil. Since its first season debuted on April 10, the show’s innovative take on Matt Murdock’s story has been showered with universal praise. So it’s no surprise that a sophomore season is on the way.
For the next batch of episodes, the Man Without Fear will return for more phenomenal fight sequences in Hell Kitchen under the tutelage of a new showrunner. Due to previous commitments Steven DeKnight won’t return in that capacity, instead passing the torch to writers Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez who produced the first season.
“While previous commitments unfortunately prevent me from continuing on with Daredevil into its second season, I could not be happier that Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez are carrying the torch,” DeKnight tells EW. “They were invaluable collaborators during our first season, and I for one can’t wait to see what they do with the show moving forward.”
The second season of Daredevil will arrive on Netflix in 2016.
There's no word yet on how this will affect plans for the other Marvel series due to hit Netflix. AKA Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist were set to follow Daredevil, before all four heroes team up for mini-series The Defenders. Will we see Daredevil season 2 before The Defenders? Will Matt Murdock's second season mean that Luke Cage or Iron Fist get bumped back? Expect to find out more about the expanded small-screen universe by the time Jessica Jones airs later this year.
