The Nerf Pro Gelfire Mythic is a gamechanger with rounds you don't need to pick up

Heads up folks, the brand-new Nerf Pro Gelfire Mythic aims to make your backyard battles infinitely better - mainly because you won't have to pick up after yourself.

The blaster itself is capable of carrying 800 water-hydrated rounds at a time, and these are soft "super absorbent polymer" balls that burst harmlessly upon hitting a target. Somewhat incredibly, there's no clean-up from all this. When we reached out to ask whether the Nerf Pro Gelfire Mythic rounds were biodegradable, a Hasbro representative told us that it's "much like when a blown bubble bursts, leaving a barely perceptible residue. The rounds and their residue are not toxic to humans, dogs, or cats. In addition, based on our environmental studies, the Gelfire rounds do not pose an adverse impact to the environment when used as intended".

Crucially, this ammo can hit some ridiculous speeds. Thanks to full or semi-auto mode and a rechargeable battery that's juiced up via USB-A to USB-C cable, the Nerf Pro Gelfire Mythic can fire up to 10 of these rounds per second.

The Nerf Pro Gelfire Mythic will cost $79.99 and is due to hit shelves by November 1. You can pre-order it now via Amazon, Walmart, Hasbro Pulse, or Target. We've asked about UK pricing and pre-order information and are still waiting for an official response, but it seems like a sure bet that Brits will be able to grab it through Amazon or from Hasbro directly as per usual.

Considering all the extras that are included within the box (10,000 Gelfire rounds, safety goggles, a removable barrel, extendable stock, and charging cable for the rechargeable battery), this might be one of the most advanced Nerf guns yet. Indeed, it's far closer in style to the Hyper or Rival ranges than standard Elite blasters and the likes of the Nerf Minecraft Pillager's Crossbow. And even though it has a price to match, the fact that you're getting so many rounds in the box goes a long way in making up for it.

You'll presumably be able to buy more Nerf Gelfire rounds whenever you need them, but pricing remains unknown. We'd expect them to cost a similar amount to Hyper rounds, putting the overall MSRP at around $20 / £25 for several hundred.

We'll have to wait until November to go hands-on, but initial impressions suggest this could be something of a gamechanger for Nerf - and our backs, which don't thank us for bending down so much to grab fired darts.
