Neil Marshall will Drive
With Hugh Jackman as a stunt driver-turned getaway wheelman
We’ve just had a terrifying vision of the future – one of these days, the mountain of projects that Neil Marshall is juggling as an in-demand helmer and creative whirlwind will topple and crush him into director-flavoured jam. Mmm…. Director Jam.
He’s just added yet another project to his pile – and this one looks like it’ll leap right to the head of the queue. He’s just signed a deal with Universal to direct an adaptation of James Sallis’ novel Drive, which will see Hugh Jackman as a movie stunt driver who moonlights as the getaway expert for bank robbers. “This is something I haven't done before, and I've wanted to bring a British sensibility to an L.A. shoot and a scorched classic film noir concept," Marshall told Variety.
So all those expecting Eagle’s Nest, Sacrilege and his oil rig-set virus thriller will have to wait that much longer, as the studio wants him to slide Drive into pole position and shoot this summer. Variety is in the passenger seat .
