Why you can trust 12DOVE
There's no true usage of the touch screen, other than standard menu selections. Sure, it's technically possible to use the stylus to call your wingman or peer into the mirrors, but since each of your available digits are already spoken for during a race, that ain't gonna happen (unless you sport a third hand - and if you do, you've got bigger problems).

To its credit, a couple of DS-only features ("Rewind" and "Speedbreaker") get opened up about halfway through the game, and sure come in handy once the RPM factor goes from Really Fast to Ludicrous Speed. Miss a turn badly? No sweat, just rewind it and give it another go. Things moving way to fast? Slow it down and get through a tough spot.
