Steven Moffat’s Who episode “The Girl in the Fireplace” is among the nominees for this year’s Nebula Awards. It’s joined in the Best Script category by Galactica episode “Unfinished Business” (which you can catch on Sky One tonight), Howl’s Moving Castle and Batman Begins ; thanks to the Awards’ bizarre eligibility criteria, two movies from 2005 are competing against two TV shows from 2006.
The annual awards are dished out by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, and (perhaps unsurprisingly) reward the finest science fiction and fantasy writing. Other categories include Best Novel, Best Novella, Best Novelette and Best Short Story. There is also the Andre Norton Award, which recognises the best young-adult SF novel of the year. The awards will be presented on the weekend of 11-13 May.
