NBC's Blindspot gets an early season 2 renewal

Despite being only eight episodes into its first season, Deadline are reporting that Blindspot has been granted a very early season 2 renewal by NBC. And after making it into the top 5 of our best TV shows of 2015, we can't say we're surprised.

The show revolves around Jaimie Alexander's Jane Doe, who wakes up naked in the middle of Times Square with no memories of her past and tattoos all over her body. One of those tattoos is the name of FBI agent Kurt Weller (Sullivan Stapleton), and it's quickly surmised that other markings on Jane's body lead to a series of possibly connected crimes, each of which could hold clues to her identity.

NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke had this to say of the show's renewal: "We are over the moon with the success of Blindspot, and want to thank our producers and amazing cast for creating one of the most riveting shows on television. Jaimie [Alexander] and Sullivan [Stapleton] have done an amazing job of ratcheting up the tension each week in trying to unravel the mystery of Jane’s tattoos. We literally can’t wait to see what the second season will bring."

This will come as great, if unsurprising news to Blindspot fans, with the show becoming the number one new series of the Fall season in the 18-49 demographic, dominating its Monday night timeslot in the US. Here's hoping it can garner similar interest when it debuts in the UK later this month.

Blindspot airs in the US on Monday nights on NBC and will premiere in the UK on Sky Living at 9pm from November 24 2015. Watch a first look promo below...
