NBA Elite cover athlete Kevin Durant disappointed with game delay

After EA Sports received a huge amount of bug reports in its NBA Elite 11 game demo, it had to push the final release well into 2011. So how does the guy who will forever be associated with this game feel about that?

Kevin Durant wasn't even notified about the game's delay from EA. He found out about it on Twitter. And like everyone else, he heard all about the glitches, terrible controls, and biting reviews from people who tried out the downloadable demo.

The game series, formerly known as NBA Live, has never suffered a delay that caused an always timely title to be pushed back into the next year. When a game contains the year (20)11 in the title, any delay means a shorter shelf life.

Durant isn't too happy about the news. "They said it wasn%26rsquo;t as up to par as they wanted it to be. That%26rsquo;s kind of unfortunate. It was kind of cool to see myself on a video game. I guess they%26rsquo;ll wait till it gets right. We%26rsquo;ll see," he said.

NewsOK.com, which interviewed the Oklahoma City Thunder superstar, said his demeanor was one of sheer "sullenness" and that "his answers shrunk shorter. His tone grew more tense." It was a very different persona than when he learned he'd be on the cover. Back then he was brimming with excitement.

Well, you gotta hand it to EA. In 12 months no one will care about this game, but instead of just slipping it out there it is taking a big cut in potential sales to make the game smoother. Now let's just hope that actually happens.
