Speaking in the most recent episode of Nerdist Podcast, which posted today, Nathan Fillion responded to writer/director David O. Russell's decision not to cast him in the upcoming Uncharted film, praising Mark Wahlberg and defending the director's freedom.
"You know I would love to have an Indiana Jones for me, that%26rsquo;s one of my greatest heroes of all time. You can%26rsquo;t fault a man for A. working with someone he%26rsquo;s worked with before, B. Mark Wahlberg, I think that%26rsquo;s a talented guy. I think he does great work, that guy and he a huge international star, which I am not. I am not. I will be," said Fillion.
"So sure I would have loved it, but I can%26rsquo;t fault anybody for any of the choices they make. You%26rsquo;re gonna make a movie, make it the way you%26rsquo;re gonna make it and have a great time."
When the film adaptation of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune was announced, fans knew instantly who should take the lead role, and Fillion himself mentioned early on that he'd like to portray Nathan Drake in the film. But waddayagonnado? We wanted Fillion, and Fillion wanted the role, but we don't always get what we want. If we're lucky, we'll at least get a decent film, and FIllion will get his Indiana Jones one day.
