We have no idea what it is, but it certainly looks like it's real. It's called Avatar Kinect, and what you see here is apparently a picture of a slide from Microsoft's big presentation at this week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
It looks like the photo was snapped during a rehearsal of the presentation. We're not quite sure, but that guy on the right edge of the picture looks kind of like Xbox LIVE's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb.
Nevertheless, the real question is what is Avatar Kinect? Is it some sort of virtual playground where you can just move your arms and legs around to have fun with your avatar? Or is it something more profound? There's really no way of knowing how important this particular slide is to the entire Microsoft keynote. After all, this is a general technology conference so there's a lot more to discuss other than the world of Xbox.
We'll know a lot more when the actual keynote presentation occurs, which is scheduled to begin tomorrow afternoon.
