Myst Online: Uru Live on PC... and Mac
And you thought the story was over
It's easy to forget that the original Myst was one of the best selling games ever. Back in the early '90's, even the elderly, notorious for cowering in the face oftechnology, were pounding their arthritic fingers to the million-selling, point-and-click adventure. Iteventuallyreachedanother hallowedbenchmarkof popularity:being referenced onThe Simpsons.
Myst V: End of Ages may have wrapped up the main storyline, but not only does the tale live on in Myst Online: Uru Live; it never has to end. Introduction of new characters, such as last week's Cate Alexander, carry in-game consequences. And in this case she's helped to open up several new areas to explore.
Developer Cyan Worlds has teamed up with Gametap to take on thetask of restoring this once cancelled title to its potential glory. And Mac users perk up your ears, because for once you won't be excluded from the action. Headover heretoclimb aboard the beta. Best of all, playing Myst Online: Uru Live is free provided you have a Gametap subscription, if not, you'll need a credit card to ride this train.
