[DS] New Nintendo add-on will make the handheld an MP3 player
DS owners will soon be able to pick up a GBA-cart-sized add-on that turns Nintendo's twin-screened handheld into an MP3 player with up to 2GB of memory.
The cartridge fits into the bottom slot (so it'll work with GBA and Game Boy Micro, too), takes SD memory cards that can hold up to 500 songs, has a simple readout on the handheld's screen and features a second headphone socket on the cart itself.
As it also works with Game Boy Advance, we're expecting that your SD memory card - which probably won't be packaged with the MP3 player - will plug straight into the player, enabling you to juggle a few song-packed cards. (Of course, internet-scouring gamers will know that this isn't the first MP3 adapter for DS, with thePlay-Yangizmo already available.)
Nintendo's official MP3 cart has no confirmed release date or price for the US, but suggestions are that it will hit sometime in October, and cost around $30-$40.
With web surfing on its way to DS next month with the Opera DS Browser, are you really interested in add-ons for your handhelds? Why not discuss thisin our forum?
