The wait for MultiVersus is nearly over, and we now have an official release date to look forward to in the very near future, so it won't be long until we can all start squaring off with a host of characters from the diverse Warner Bros. multiverse. If you've ever wanted to find out how Harley Quinn would fare in a fight with Arya Stark, or to see if best pals Jake The Dog and Finn The Human will actually go head to head if thrown into a brawl together, then it's almost time to discover that for yourself. If you're looking for the latest information on when it's coming out, how much it'll cost, which characters you can select, and more, then here's everything we know about MultiVersus so far.

Everything we know about MultiVersus

  1. MultiVersus will be out on July 26, and shuts down temporarily in June
  2. MultiVersus is free to play, but with some in-game purchases
  3. MultiVersus is on PS4 and Xbox One, as well as PS5, Xbox Series X and PC
  4. There are 16 fighters confirmed in MultiVersus so far

The MultiVersus release date is July 26, 2022 - but it shuts down in June

The MultiVersus release date was officially July 26, 2022, and although technically this is the start of the MultiVersus open beta period you can basically consider it as a soft launch for the full game when the MultiVersus open beta start time rolls around. If you want to get going even quicker then the Early Access phase will be available from July 19, which can be accessed by anyone who participated in the MultiVersus closed alpha that concluded at the end of May 2022. You can also earn an invite to the Early Access phase by watching Twitch streamers play MultiVersus with drops enabled for 60 minutes, so we've got full details for how to sign up for that and redeem MultiVersus codes in our separate guide.

However, Multiversus servers shut down on June 25, 2023 - though not permanently. This marks the end of the aforementioned open beta period - a pretty long beta, at eleven months - and at this point Multiversus will no longer be playable, with the exception of its offline features (i.e., the Lab and local multiplayer).

MultiVersus is free to play but will have in-game purchases

More good news is that MultiVersus will be free to play, so there's no cost involved with jumping in and giving it a go once it releases. As with most F2P games, there will be in-game purchases available but no details have been given yet about what form those will take. The developers have confirmed there will be "upcoming content-filled seasons for players to enjoy," suggesting a season pass system may be implemented that could unlock characters, outfits, and more.

MultiVersus is on PS4 and Xbox One

As well as being available on PC via Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X, MultiVersus is on PS4 and Xbox One as well, opening up more options for players to get involved in the fight. What's more, MultiVersus will have full cross-play support to allow battles with friends across different systems, and cross-progression is available so you can move between platforms while maintaining the overall progress you've made on your account.
