Music channel expands its new slate of drama with a cops versus monsters horror comedy
MTV is getting into the “original dramas” game big time, it seems, and telefantasy is feeling the benefit. The music channel (or should that be former music channel?) already has Teen Wolf in production, and now, according to The Hollywood Reporter , it’s announced announced another supernatural show – Death Valley.
The new series will be a monsters versus cops horror comedy shot in a documentary style, following the Undead Task Force, which battles zombies, vampires and werewolves that have overrun the San Fernando Valley. The cast includes Caity ( Mad Men ) Lotz and Tania (Alex Rousseau in Lost ) Raymonde. It will be executive produced by Austin Reading, Julie Kellman Reading, Tim Healy and Eric ( Californication / Scrubs ) Weinberg.
“ Death Valley is the perfect combination of horror and comedy,” says Senior VP of Production aty MTV Tony DiBari (yeah, thanks, we’ll be the judge of that), “two genres we know our audience responds to. That blend, combined with a fast pace and gritty ‘follow doc’ visual style, will take viewers on a wild ride where they are never sure what’s around the next corner.”
